Margaret Mary Gould

Margaret Mary “Peg” Cawley Gould, 99, of Spartanburg, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Peg was born on September 19, 1925, in Whitinsville, MA, the daughter of the late James and Agnes Garand Cawley. She was married to the late Clyde Stuart Gould for 62 years. 

Peg was a member of Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church. She retired from the SC Unemployment Commission and formerly worked with Southern Bell Telecommunications. 

Peg was a longtime volunteer with TOTAL Ministries and enjoyed reading and working jigsaw puzzles. 

Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth Steifle (Jerry) of Spartanburg, Eleanor Rogers (Alan) of Oxford, GA, Nancy Peters (Greg) of Wilmington, NC and Patricia Pope (Brett) of Greensboro, NC; her son, William Gould (Susie) of Greenville, SC; and her 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Peg was predeceased by two great-grandchildren and three brothers. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, 2575 Reidville Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family will receive friends following the Mass, in the church All-Purpose Room. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
