Margaret Fitzgerald

Mrs. Margaret Veronica Fitzgerald, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Born January 23, 1923, in Donegal, Ireland, she immigrated to the United States with her parents, Thomas and Mary Sweeney Rooney. She was the widow of James Fitzgerald. Mrs. Fitzgerald attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She lived in New York City and worked for more than 25 years at Chase Manhattan Bank then moved to Spartanburg in 1991. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Fitzgerald and his wife Jeannie of Mahopac, NY and James Fitzgerald and his wife Yvonne of Inman, SC; daughter, Mary Fitzgerald and her husband Barry Rhodes of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, David Fitzgerald of New York City, NY, Justin and Courtney Fitzgerald-Rhodes of San Diego, CA, Jana Fitzgerald-Rhodes of Boston, MA, Stephanie and Pete Lambley of Boiling Springs, SC, Shannon Fitzgerald of Greenville, NC, and Katie Fitzgerald of Daytona Beach, FL; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, John Michael Fitzgerald. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. David Whitman.
