Margaret Alice Carlton Edwards, 98, of Spartanburg, died peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her home. A native of Crawfordville, Ga, she was born on November 21, 1925, a daughter of the late John Purcelle and Mary Lou Clement Carlton. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William Everette Edwards.

 

Margaret was a graduate of Converse College, where she graduated at the top of her class, earning the Tillinghast Award. She loved her family, her church and loved to garden. Margaret was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Special to her were her loving caregivers, Shirleen Hughes and Regina Vinson.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
