Margaret R. Cook, 81, of Pacolet, SC passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. Born October 11, 1940, in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Nettie Hendley Rice.
Margaret “Marg” graduated in 1961 from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation she went to work in the Emergency Room at Spartanburg General and was quickly moved into the position of head nurse. She spent 11 years as head nurse at Spartanburg General and was then asked to assist with the set up and opening of the emergency room at Doctor’s Memorial Hospital. Marg eventually returned to the General Hospital (Spartanburg Regional Hospital) and was head nurse of Family Medicine where she proudly and lovingly spent the remainder of her nursing career that spanned more than 30 years.
Marg was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church. Marg’s love for God was apparent in her faithfulness to her church and the many charities she so unselfishly supported. Her love for family was felt deeply by those of us for whom she so delicately and lovingly cared for over the years.
Survivors include her grandson, Tyler V. McGraw (Jillian) and sister, Barbara Grubbs. Along with her parents, Marg was predeceased by her husband, Olin Brown “Bot” Cook; daughter, Bridget A. Crocker; and four brothers, Ken Rice, James Rice, Bob Rice, and Billy Rice.
