Margaret Cannon

August 16, 1910 — January 16, 2012

Margaret Duncan Hart Cannon, 101, formerly of 311 Sunridge Drive, Spartanburg, and recently of White Oak Estates, died Monday, January 16, 2012, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born August 16, 1910, in Ridge Spring, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert William and Rebecca Margaret Jones Hart, and wife of the late John B. Cannon, Jr. (CPA). Mrs. Cannon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 1930 graduate of Converse College, a teacher in Landrum, SC (1933-1936) and was employed at Spartanburg Regional Library (1968-1972). She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Monnie" Hart Cannon of Spartanburg; her son, John Burns Cannon III and wife Charlene of Grayslake, IL; grandchildren, Adam Edward Cannon of Chicago, and Amanda Cannon Patch and husband Kyle of Milwaukee, WI. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her brother, Robert William Hart, Jr. of Greenwood, SC; and sister, Dorothy Hart Mittenzwei of Greenwood, SC. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Friday, January 20, 2012, in Trinity United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Holler, the Rev. Heather B. Humphries, and the Rev. Arthur H. Holt. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 210 Henry Place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at 311 Sunridge Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302 (864) 582-4492.
