Marcus Wall, Sr.

Marcus "Marc" Henry Wall, Sr., 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home. Born February 21, 1931, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Ralph Waldo Wall and Mozelle Wheeler Wall. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Wall received a BS Degree in Agricultural Economics from Clemson University. He was the former Vice President, Sales and Credit Manager of Spartan Grain & Feed Company and retired from Purina Mills for a combined 36 years of service. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg where he served as an adult Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Purnell Sunday School Class, former Deacon, and Elder. Marcus also established the Wall Family Fund at the church. Survivors include his wife, Miclo C. Wall. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Becknell Wall with whom he had four surviving sons, Marcus H. Wall, Jr. (Tom) and Warren W. Wall (Lauren), all of Weaverville, NC; David R. Wall of Greenville, SC; and Philip J. Wall of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Lawrence of Columbia, SC; one nephew; and two nieces. A memorial service honoring his life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by The Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and The Rev. Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow in the Church Social Hall. Committal will be private. The Purnell Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort.
