Marcus Livingston Leverette, Jr., 87, of 427 W. Abington Way, Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 29, 1927, in Pelzer, SC, he was the son of the late Marcus Livingston Leverette, Sr. and Katie Browning Leverette. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Leverette was controller for Spartan Petroleum Company, distributors of Chevron for 50 years. After retiring, he started AAA Westgate Tax & Accounting and continued working as an accountant at Upstate CPA Consultants after selling his business. He was organist at Drayton Baptist Church and in the last year created a gospel music CD with organ and piano. Recently, he began visiting churches to play the organ and give his testimony. Marcus served the Lord through music all of his life and touched many souls sharing the gospel with everyone he met. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Pridmore (David) of the home; two sons, Richard (Georgia) Leverette of Columbia, SC and Bob Leverette (Bunny) of Moore, SC; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bobbie Sue McCallister of West Point, GA. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen Leverette; one grandson, Marc Pridmore; five brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services, with military honors, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by Pastor Barry Snead.
