Marceile West

Marceile Aurelia Gosnell West, 97, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Gardens at Windsor House. Born January 23, 1916, in Gowensville, SC, she was the wife of the late Charles David West, Jr. of Spartanburg, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Reid Gosnell Bates and Fleming Gosnell, and the mother of the late Elizabeth Anne West Sellers. She was a math and algebra teacher at Fairforest Junior High School and Dorman High School and a devoted educator. Prior to her marriage she graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. She was a longstanding member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Cema Chreitzberg Class and served in various capacities. She was a member of several educational organizations as well as bridge clubs, garden clubs, and book clubs in the community. Surviving are her son, William "Bill" West and wife Helen Miller West of Moore, SC; and her daughter, Mary West Rambow and husband William Rambow of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are grandsons, Jeff Sellers of Chesnee, SC, Britt West of Columbia, SC, Derrick West (Dawn) of Vero Beach, FL, Bates Rambow (Lindsey) of Bluffton, SC; and granddaughters, Leslie Sellers Anderson (Rick) of Chesnee, SC, and Marceile Lee "Marcie" West of Hendersonville, NC; great-grandchildren, Charlie West and Pike West of Columbia, SC, and Miller West and Darcie Samantha West of Vero Beach, FL. Visitation will be from 11:00-11:45 AM on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services to immediately follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel, by the Rev. David B. Smith and the Rev. Derrick West. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
