Manie Jackson Buckner, 92, of 6 Beverly Hills Drive, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at her home. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Buckner was born on September 16, 1917, to Grover Cleveland Jackson, Sr. and Elvena Read Jackson. She was a 1936 graduate of Spartanburg High School and married to the late Arthur Chris Buckner, Sr. for 59 years. Mrs. Buckner enjoyed competitive square dancing, worked with Southern Bell Telephone Company, was an amateur artist, and a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her son, Arthur Chris Buckner, Jr. of Fairforest; her granddaughter, Kim Buckner Land and her husband Jason of Inman; her great-granddaughter, Kelsey Land; her brother, Grover Cleveland (G.C.) Jackson, Jr. and his wife June of Spartanburg; her sister-in-law, Helen Buckner Waldrop; her daughter-in-law, Julie Buckner of Boiling Springs; and her long-term caregiver, Patty Bell. She was predeceased by her son, Eric Cleve Buckner. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Peter Waid.
