Mae Proctor

Mae Breeden Proctor, 107, passed away on July 27, 2015, at Brookdale Skylyn Retirement Center following an extended illness. Born on January 29, 1908, in Clio, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas Breeden and Annie Belle Bundy Breeden. Mrs. Proctor was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Edwin Proctor. She was also predeceased by her three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her son, Dr. James E. Proctor and wife Jane; grandson, Richard Proctor and wife Margaret; grandson, David Proctor and wife, Lynn, all of Spartanburg; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Addison, Hampton, and George. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Mrs. Proctor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a devoted sister, aunt, and great-aunt. She was a lifelong Methodist, including memberships at Wesley United Methodist Church, Hartsville, SC, and at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC. She retired after a 25-year career at J.L. Coker & Co. department store in Hartsville. Mrs. Proctor served her community as a member of the Byerly Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid fan of local high school sports, Duke basketball, and Braves baseball. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. John Warren at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC, on Wednesday, July 29, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will follow in the church narthex. Mrs. Proctor will be interred on Thursday, July 30, at Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC, with the Rev. Fran Elrod officiating. Interment will be preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00 at Brown-Pennington- Atkins Funeral Home in Hartsville. Memorials may be made to: Wesley United Methodist Church, 145 E.
