Karen Lynn Hicks Sellers, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 17, 1948 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Leonard and Betty Jo Bright Hicks. Mrs. Sellers was a charter member of The Rial B. Seay Chapter of the United Daughters of Confederacy, program director of the Piedmont Historical Society, Spartanburg County Historical Association, SC Genealogical Society, Great Granddaughter's Club of UDC, Pinckney District Historical Society, Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, volunteer with the Una Fire Department Support Team, past member of Women's Council of U. S. Postal Service, Greenville, SC, American Postal Worker's Union, she was a genealogist and historian. She was retired after 28 years with the U. S. Postal Service, Greenville, SC. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Jonelle Sellers Shores (Ricky); grandchildren, Heather Shores, Kerri Smalley, and Jacob Shores; great-grandson, Charles Wesley Smalley; aunt, Olean Hicks; and several cousins including Charles Morgan. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Edward Leland and Etta Miller Hicks, and Charles Tillman and Pearlie Mae Bailey Bright; grandson, Joshua Shores; and great-grandson, Joshua Shores Smalley. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, March 29, 2013 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by Susan Turpin Illner, Bobby Rhymer, and the Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will be in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Darby Rollins, Troy Beaudoin, Andy Sears, Harold Jenkins, Jackie Fuller, Todd Dorsey, Tommie Dorsey, and Jeff Hadden. Honorary escort is members of the Una Fire Department.
