Lynn Jackson

Lynn Hope Reed Jackson, 89, of Emeritus at Skylyn Place, Spartanburg, SC and formerly of Greenville, SC died Friday, August 30, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 8, 1924 in Sterling, CO, she was the daughter of the late Howard Almeron and Myrtle Maud Redfern Reed and was married 48 years to Laurence Steuart Jackson, MD whom she met at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Mrs. Jackson was raised in Ogallala, NE, attended Colorado Woman's College, Denver, CO, and graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1946 with a degree in Nursing. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent and a former member of St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Greenville and the Greenville Literacy Association where she was recognized as volunteer of the year. Mrs. Jackson will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She loved dogs and leaves behind her faithful companion, Honey. She loved to tell stories and was the family historian. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn J. Moore and husband Ron of Seminole, FL, Kathy J. Trakas and husband Deno of Spartanburg, Lee Jackson of Dayton, OH, and Lauren Jackson of Santa Monica, CA; son, Reed Jackson and wife Cindy of Albany, GA; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
