Lynda Lucille Evans Moore

Lynda Lucille Evans Moore died August 18 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. Lynda was born in Charleston, SC on February 18, 1946. She grew up in Rock Hill, SC where she was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. Lynda then went on to graduate from Emory University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She then graduated from Emory University Hospital School of Medical Record Administration. In 1969 Lynda married the love of her life, Herbert Bays Moore, Jr. Bert and Lynda moved to Spartanburg in 1971 where they have led an active happy life in the community.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bert; her daughter, Sally Moore Martin and beloved son in law John William Martin of Clemson, SC; as well as 3 beautiful grandchildren, Bays McAtee Martin, John Evans Burwell Martin, and Margaret Lucille Martin. She is also survived by a brother, Wallace Rockwell Evans III of Charlotte, NC. Lynda was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn Osborne Evans and Wallace Rockwell Evans, Jr.

Lynda was a member of first Presbyterian Church for 52 years where it was her great privilege to serve as a Deacon and Elder. LuLu, as she was known by those who loved her most, enjoyed spending time with friends and family laughing and making memories. Always curious about the natural world, Lulu was often happiest simply being outdoors. She relished any chance to be on the water or to watch a sunset, which she would unfailingly describe as glorious. Most afternoons she could be found reading on her deck while watching the cardinals at her bird feeders. Lulu always believed she was a child of God. Through both good times and bad, she stood by her motto, “Bloom Where You Are Planted!”

The family wishes to thank Dr. Gordon France and the excellent staff at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A Memorial service is planned for 3 P.M. Sunday, August 20. 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family requests that those attending her service wear happy colors!
