Lucy Shores

Mrs. Lucy Veazey Shores, a long time resident of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Magnolia Manor, Inman, SC. She was the wife of the late LaMotte Shores. The Shores operated LaMotte's Bar-B-Que Place and Shoresbrook Golf Course for many years. Lucy was a native of Warren County, GA and the daughter of the late Ray Veazey and Mattie Veazey Wheeler. Mrs. Shores attended Georgia State College for Women and taught school in Georgia and South Carolina before marriage. Mrs. Shores was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. She is survived by her sisters; Mary Carter of Startex, SC, and Billye Aiken of Atlanta, GA. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, October 31, 2011, in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
