Lucy Amanda Mabry Rogers, 90, of Spartanburg, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 27, 1922, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Sam Erwin Mabry Sr. and Ada Bessie Holder Mabry. Lucy married Furman Dendy Rogers on Valentines Day 60 years ago. She loved her family and she and her husband were inseparable, "when you saw one, you saw them both." Mrs. Rogers retired from Fiske-Carter Construction Company, she was a graduate of Spartanburg High School where she played basketball, and was also a graduate of Cecil's Business College. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an avid ballroom dancer. In addition to her husband, Furman, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Sam E. Mabry Jr., Nellie Hames, Grace Hames, Mae Lillie LeMaster, and Lewis Lee Mabry. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2013, in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand, the Rev. Jack Hames, and the Rev. McKinley Miles. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
