Lucille Brock Jernigan, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, entered into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 21, 2015, at White Oak Estates. Born May 2, 1919, in Spartanburg, to the late C. Lenza and Mary Elizabeth Holcombe Brock of Chesnee, she was the widow of Lawrence A. Jernigan, Sr. and retired from Spartanburg County Library as a Bookmobile Librarian. Mrs. Jernigan was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother "Memama", sister, and friend. A true Christian lady who loved her Lord, she was the oldest member of Northbrook Baptist Church and was active until her health declined. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara J. Vess, son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. Jernigan Jr. (Sandra), daughter-in-law, Sylvia Jernigan, all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Karen Pitts (Gene) of Landrum, SC, Debbie Fuller (Doug) of Boiling Springs, SC, Lance Jernigan (Shannon) of Taylors, SC, and David Jernigan, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; 20 great-grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; sisters, Mae McKinney of Mayo, SC, Shirley Evans of Spindale, NC, and Gail Davis of Chesnee, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, David Jernigan, Sr.; granddaughter, Cindy West; and siblings, Lib Harmon, Jo Phillips, and Bobby Brock. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Adams, the Rev. Ralph Brown, and the Rev. Bennie Green. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Per Lucille's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles Lea Center in honor of Blake West and in memory of his mother, Cindy West, 195 Burdette Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
