Lucille Holmes

April 15, 1911 — February 6, 2010

Lucille Holland Holmes, 98, of Spartanburg, and formerly of Pacolet Mills, died Saturday, February 6, 2010. Born April 15, 1911, in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the daughter of the late Plato and Carrie George Holland and wife of the late Jerry Harold Holmes. She was retired from Pacolet Manufacturing Company, a member of Morningside Baptist Church, a former longtime member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church of Pacolet Mills,and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dorcas Chapter of Pacolet Mills. Survivors include a son, Gerald Holland (Tammy) Holmes of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter Marguerite Holmes Jones (David) Baughn of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Janet Jones (Malcom) McClure of Spartanburg, John William Jones, II of Spartanburg, Judy Jones (Kim) Senn of Myrtle Beach, Keith Holmes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tara Messer (Chance) Smith of Jacksonville, FL; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Holmes Messer; a grandson, Michael Delton Holmes; a brother, Clarence T. Holland' and a sister, Helen Holland Petty. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Robert G. Strother. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home of her daughter, Marguerite Baughn, 4581 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
