Lucille Blackwood, 81, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Emeritus at Skylyn Place. Born June 27, 1931, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Amanda McCarter Blackwood. A graduate of Cecil's Business College, Miss Blackwood retired from The J. F. Floyd Mortuary after 52 years of dedicated service. She was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Inman and the United Methodist Women. She also taught Sunday School and served on various committees. Survivors include her sister, Patsy Blackwood of Boiling Springs, SC; brother, Paul W. Blackwood (Jean) of Fairfax, VA; nephews, Chad W. Blackwood of Windham, NH, Marc P. Blackwood of Arlington, VA, James Blackwood of Inman, SC, Joy Fought of Hawaii, Bridgette Lazurick of Chesnee, SC, John Blackwood of Inman, and George Blackwood of New Jersey; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James A. Blackwood. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, May 13, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Gary Byrd and the Rev. David Ervin. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
