Lucile Morgan Blackwell, age 100, died peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Brookdale Skylyn, Spartanburg, SC. Lucile, a native of Spartanburg, SC was born on September 10, 1915, the daughter of Benjamin M. and Tollie M. Morgan of Arcadia, SC. Lucile loved to paint, arrange flowers, and decorate. Her family's homes are tastefully decorated with her work and her collections. In her Bible she wrote, "I want my life to make a difference." All her family and those who knew her can share that she accomplished that gracefully and with great style. In 1936, Lucile married the love of her life, John E. "Blackie" Blackwell and they moved to Startex, SC where they both worked at Startex Mill. Lucile was a member of Tucapau Baptist Church. For years she gathered flowers from neighbors and lovingly prepared beautiful arrangements for Sunday morning. She also taught a ladies Sunday School class for years. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Lynn Ruble (David) of Pinehurst, NC and Iris B. Hayes (Frank) of Pauline, SC; son, Manning "Rock" Blackwell (Lynn) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Ruble of San Antonio, TX, John Ruble (Jessica) of Virginia Beach, VA, Justin Hayes (Alexandra) Chicago, IL, Joshua Hayes (Anna) of Savannah, GA, Carla Pruitt (Jamie) of Moore, SC, and Christina Blackwell of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Rachel Ruble, Luke Ruble, Gabriella Ruble and Elijah Goldsmith, all of Virginia Beach, VA, Hadley Hayes of Savannah, GA, Mallory Mobley and Brianna Meeks, both of Moore, SC. A private family cryptside service will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at 11:30 AM Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3119 Hwy 56, Pauline, SC 29374.
