Louise Ora Walker Foster, 97, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at her home. Born December 17, 1916, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Stough Walker and Zelda Goode Walker. For 57 years, she was married to the late Vernon W. Foster, author of "Spartanburg - Facts, Reminiscences, Folklore". Mrs. Foster was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and office nurse for Doctors Hendrix and Luttrell for 36 years. She was a current member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and previous member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served on Church Council, Administrative Board and various committees. She was also a member of the Octavia Erin Sunday School Class, UMW, and Circle #2. Mrs. Foster was a retired member of the South Carolina District Nurses Association, the Spartanburg General Hospital Alumnae Association, and Kate Barry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Robert Moore of Spartanburg, SC; one grandson and his wife, Mark and Katherine Smith of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Edith Blalock and her husband Clyde of Glenn Springs, SC, and Marion McGaha of Charlotte, NC; and one brother, Charles Lionel Walker of Elizabethtown, KY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Jessie Pinson Walker; two sisters and three brothers, Dorothy Hamilton of Columbia, SC, Ruth Layton of Roebuck, SC, Calvin Walker of Spartanburg, SC, Bruce Price of Anderson, SC, and Jesse Walker of Union, SC. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM Friday, October 31, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Bob Neely.
