Louella Stoltz

October 12, 1926 — May 11, 2013

Louella Von Till Stoltz, 86, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died in Spartanburg, SC, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, after a brief illness. She is survived by her ever-loving husband, Dr. David R. Stoltz, to whom she was married for nearly 67 years. She is also survived by their five children: Mary Ellen Bianco and her husband Sal of New York City, NY, David Stoltz, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Nancy Stoltz and her husband Craig Corbitt of Mill Valley, CA, Andrea Dunlevy and her husband Greg of Plano, TX, and Dr. Peter Stoltz and his wife Dr. Brooke Stoltz of Lexington, SC. Her ten grandchildren were the joy of her life: her two New York City granddaughters, Anna Rose Bianco and Maria Louisa Bianco, spent more than ten summers with "Dr. Grandpa" and "Grandma Lou" in "Camp Spartanburg", where they learned to drive and held their first jobs, working at the tennis pro shop at the Country Club of Spartanburg. The grandchildren recently traveled to Spartanburg to celebrate her 85th birthday: Jessica Dunlevy Henning and her husband Jake, Rebecca Dunlevy, Caroline Corbitt, Lindsey Stoltz, Tyler Stoltz, Kara Dunlevy, Courtney Stoltz, and Shelby Stoltz. The oldest of eight children born to the late Louis and Mary Ellen McNulty Von Till, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth Warren, and her brothers, Louis Von Till, Paul Von Till, and Steven Von Till. Her sisters, Barbara Pinney and Susan Von Till; and brother, Peter Von Till, predeceased her. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Spartanburg in 1955, following the completion of her husband's service as a Naval Dental Officer at Camp Lejeune, NC. She worked for many years as the office manager for her husband's dental practice, before retiring in 2001. She was a long-time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and the St. Theresa's Circle. An avid bridge player for 25 years, she loved the beach and to travel, enjoying many holiday seasons in New York City, and trips to Canada, Ireland, Jackson Hole, Alaska, and to attend her granddaughter Jessica's wedding in California. She had an indomitable spirit and saw the best in everyone. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her wonderful laugh and generosity. She enjoyed the companionship and support of a wonderful trio of caregivers, Hazel Wannamaker, Karen McCollum, and Betty Lokuji, who, with Wanda Griffin, a friend and co-worker for over 37 years, were an integral part of her daily life. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to The Weimaraner Rescue of South Carolina, 5320 Deep Blue Lane, North Charleston, SC 29418; or online at www.weimrescuesc.org as she loved dogs, especially the Weimaraner breed which they raised for the last fifty years.
