Lou Bomar Thomson, 94, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at her home. Born November 19, 1916, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Horace Leland and Mallie Brown Bomar and wife of the late Richard Webb "Buck" Thomson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Thomson was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and worked as a travelers' aide during the World War II era. She was glad to have been her Converse College graduating class representative and received the Mae Elizabeth Kilgo Spirit Award from the Converse College Alumnae Association. She was also a member of the Junior League, the Assembly, The Book and Garden Club, the Fortnightly Flower Club, The Study Club, and the National Society of Colonial Dames. Survivors include cousins, Marshall Stone and Bennie S. Larj; numerous loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by three brothers, Horace Leland Bomar, Jr., Fleming Brown Bomar, and John Earle Bomar; and two sisters, Mallie Bomar (Ben) Johnson and Eleanor Bomar Hunt. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Dr. David A. Renwick and the Rev. Laura Palmer.
