Lottie Brown Chapman Ravan, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, March 21, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 8, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie M. Brown and Hulda Bradley Brown Norris. She was the widow of her first husband, Norman Douglas Chapman and her second husband, Boyce Lee Ravan. Mrs. Ravan was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class at Fairforest High School, a graduate of Cecil's Business College, and attended Spartanburg Technical College. She was employed with the Department of Corrections and for a number of years with Sears & Roebuck. Family members include her daughter, Beverly Chapman Cole who preceded her in death and son-in-law, Rev. Wayne Cole of Columbia, SC; daughter, Judith Chapman McDonnell of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Chris McDonnell of Arlington, TX, Patrick McDonnell (Ruth) of Inman, SC, Rebecca Cole Butcher (Scott) of Chapin, SC, and Jennifer Gray (Jon) of Chapin, SC; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lynn Butcher who preceded her in death, Joshua McDonnell, Caleb McDonnell, Camille McDonnell, Cooper McDonnell, Wyatt Butcher, Luke Butcher, Andie-Grace Butcher, and J. J. Gray; sister, Frankie N. Wright of Spartanburg, SC and brother, Jim Norris of Ohio; predeceased brothers and sisters, Mary B. Lane, J. C. Norris, Elizabeth-Ann Estes, Rebecca Brunette, Bob Norris and Bill Norris. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Thursday, March 24, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with a cryptside service following at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Jack Dodds and the Rev. Wayne Cole. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
