Lorraine Metivier

Lorraine M. Metivier, 78, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at her home. Born June 8, 1938, in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred A. and Grace Mercier and widow of Norman A. Metivier. Mrs. Metivier was a former member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg. She retired from teaching in Spartanburg County Schools District 4 and 7 and was also a member of the League of Women Voters. Surviving are her children, Christopher J. Metivier (Therease) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Timothy N. Metivier (Diana) of Allen, TX, Robbin M. Jolly (Doug) of Rock Hill, SC, and Lori M. Ruffing (Edward) of Folsom, CA; eight grandchildren; sister, Joann M. White (Glenn) of Spartanburg, SC; and aunts, Irene Duclos of Fall River, MA and Yvonne Barrett of New Bedford, MA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Michael P. Mercier. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 4, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. David R. Whitman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boston University Gifts & Records, Amyloidosis Treatment Fund, 595 Commonwealth Avenue Suite 700, West Entrance, Boston, MA 02215; or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt.
