Lorraine Blackwell

Lorraine Hallman Blackwell, 92, of Inman, SC, died Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House. Born September 19, 1930 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Pressley and Alice Neal Hallman and the wife of the late Earl Blackwell of 61 years.

Lorraine graduated Duncan High School where she was a star basketball player. She was retired as the Manager of Food Service at The Charles Lea Center, after many years of service. She was a member of United Baptist Church for 47 years.

Lorraine loved to go shopping and cooking for her family. A life well lived, she loved everyone and was the most generous to all and a lover of all animals.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Blackwell (Bill Ballinger) of Spartanburg, SC and Karen Potter (Claude) of Roebuck, SC; her son, William Blackwell of Moore; four grandsons, one granddaughter, and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-laws, Joanne Cannon of Spartanburg, SC and Donna Hallman of Oklahoma; a special daughter-in-law, Mary Sprenger of Boiling Springs, SC; and her beloved fur-baby, Tessa. She was predeceased by two brothers, John Hallman and Ishmal Hallman.

Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Monday, November 7, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Robert Emory. Visitation will follow the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 160402, Boiling Springs, SC 29316; Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC 29356.
