Loris William Zuercher, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died December 19, 2009 at his home surrounded by family. Born February 11, 1925, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harrison William and Blanche Rice Zuercher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from Toledo University with a pharmacy degree. He was a pharmaceutical representative for Eli Lilly & Company for 34 years until he retired. He relocated from Northern Ohio to Spartanburg in 1975. A member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, he served as an usher and a Deacon, was a member of Yesterday's Teens and Young At Heart, volunteered with the Helping Center Ministry, served meals to the ladies at Ladies First Thursday and the Caring Couples Sunday School Class. He enjoyed golf and baking in his spare time and often delivered his fresh baked bread to friends and neighbors. He was a loving husband of 58 years to the late Joyce Ruth Troike Zuercher. Survivors include three daughters, Beth Anne Zuercher of Boiling Springs, Karen Lynne Hammett and her husband Randy of Wellford, and Martha Ellen Zuercher of Brandon, FL; five grandchildren, Kelly Jean Zuercher, Brian Loris Zuercher, Hannah Grace Zuercher, Ashley Nicole Hammett, and Bradley Alexander Hammett; and one great-granddaughter, Violet Ren Zuercher. Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone.
