Loren Libby

Loren Lloyd Libby, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at his home. Born May 28, 1946, in Presque Isle, Maine, he was the son of the late Lloyd Etheral Libby and Irene Clark Libby. A U. S. Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Libby received a BA Degree from the University of South Carolina and Associate Degree from Midlands Tech in Columbia, SC. He was a faithful member of Jesus, Our Risen Savior Catholic Church and retired from the Charles Lea Center after 26 years of service as Director of Residential Services and Director of Consumer Advocacy. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Kathy Burch Libby; son, Troy Libby (Jennifer) of Gastonia, NC; stepson, Ryan Sturm of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Bradley Libby, Devin Libby, and Wilder James Sturm; sister, Michelle Libby Godsey of Prosperity, SC; and his canine loves, Sadie and Yogi. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Bradley Todd Libby; and sisters, Valerie Sligh and Bonnie Horton. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with the Rosary service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Jesus, Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ryan Dela Peña, CRM. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
