Lona Blake

Lona Jones Blake, 90, died Sunday, February 12, 2012. Mrs. Blake was born and lived her entire life in Spartanburg, SC. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Joseph J. Blake, and her son-in-law, Dr. James W. Pinkney. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy B. Pinkney of Greenville, North Carolina; her son, Joseph J. Blake Jr. and his wife Claire of Greenville, South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Joseph Brian Blake and Elizabeth C. Blake. Known as Gram B to her family, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandparent. Many of her happiest times were spent with Joe at their home on the Isle of Palms. An avid reader, she enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her neighbors and friends. She was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent, the Piedmont Club, and various clubs and organizations. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. Edward Morris. The family will greet friends following the service.
