Lois Lavella Pettrey Ritter, 87, of 224 South Highpoint Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 22, 1922, in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Garusa Pettrey and the wife of the late Blair M. Ritter, Sr. Mrs. Ritter was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She moved to Spartanburg in 1954 and was employed by many of the city's finer restaurants, including 26 years with the Picadilly Cafeteria. She enjoyed fishing, cards, and playing bingo. Mrs. Ritter was a loving wife, mother, and person and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include two sons, Blair M. Ritter, Jr. and wife Susan, and Gregory B. Ritter, all of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Ruby Ratcliff, Benard Pettrey, Essie Patrick, Darid Mason, Topsy Pettrey, Bootsie Wyatt, Gladys Rogers, Mildred Schaid, Carrie Morris, Francis Allen, and Coy Pettrey. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Memorials may be made to SRMC Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
