Lois Bennett Cantrell, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 21, 1920, in Boiling Springs, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Grady Bennett and Paitie Poteat Bennett and widow of Wallace Elvin Cantrell. An avid artist, Mrs. Cantrell devoted her life to the arts and was a founding member of the Spartanburg Artist Guild and longtime member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society. She was also a member of Central United Methodist Church and retired from Spartanburg Water Works. Survivors include her son, Brett Bennett Cantrell (Debora) of Jacksonville, FL; and three grandchildren, Brad Cantrell, Hope Mowery, and Laura Langford as well as great-grandchildren, Lily Langford, Sydney Langford, Grady Langford, and Allison Mowery. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters and brother, Ruby Coggins, Lee Henderson, James Bennett, and Evelyn Jordan. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, September 12, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Tom Norrell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
