Lois Burchfield

Lois Aycock Burchfield, 87, of 201 Fernbrook Circle, died peacefully at home on January 14, 2012. Born August 20, 1924, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Hilliard and Rosalie Cantrell Aycock and the wife of the late Robert Richard Burchfield. A graduate of Fairforest High School and Cecil's Business College, she was retired from McClurkin-Blalock and Associates. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church since June 1959, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She taught and worked with 3- and 4-year-olds in Sunday School and the nursery for many years. She was a loved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by one beloved daughter, Myra Hendrix and her husband Michael of Spartanburg; two beloved grandsons, Matthew Hendrix and his wife Elizabeth of Dallas, GA, and Marshall Hendrix of Spartanburg; one beloved great-granddaughter, Anhalise Marie Hendrix; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters, three brothers, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Fernwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dean Allen, the Rev. Dr. Lisa Allen, the Rev. Dr. P. Randall Wright, and her nephew, the Rev. Dr. Aaron W. Turner. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Hendrix, Matthew Hendrix, Marshall Hendrix, Roddy Jeffers, Rock Thornlow, and Mac Hogan. Honorary Escort will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church "Retire the Debt", 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, or Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the home, 201 Fernbrook Circle.
