Lizzie Thomas

Lizzie R. Thomas, 80, of Spartanburg, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 14, 1933, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Ransom and Velda Burrell Rhymer and the widow of Basil A. Thomas, Jr. She was retired from Beaumont Mills after 43 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter and son, Carolyn Finley and Alan Thomas, both of Spartanburg; brother, John Rhymer of Clifton, SC; sisters, Jeanette Jones of Asheville, NC and Louise Tucker of Inman, SC; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Hollifield; sister, Bertie Edwards; brothers, Clyde and Boyd Rhymer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family is at their respective homes. Lizzie left these comforting words. "I had a good life. Thanks to my family and friends."
