Linda Phillips

June 25, 1950 — June 3, 2013

Linda Mae Lawson Phillips, 62, of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Union Lake, MI, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from complications caused by Multiple Sclerosis. Born June 25, 1950, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mildred Vires Lawson of Kalaska, MI. Mrs. Phillips favorite expression regarding MS was, "It's mind over matter, if you don't mind, it don't matter." She attended Walled Lake Central High School and Oakland Community College. Linda was a past volunteer for the Spartanburg Arts Center, past president of the Union Lake Jaycettes, and formerly employed with Commerce Township and Parlovecchio Construction. She loved the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, shopping, floral arrangements, and hummingbirds. Her favorite song was, "I Hope You Dance", by Leann Womack. Surviving is the love of her life for 44 years, her husband, Steven J. Phillips; daughter, Staci Karban (Paul); grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca, and Matthew Karban, all of Moore, SC; sisters, Shirley Wolfe of Brighton, MI, and Lois Ziegler of Rapid City, MI; nieces, Jennifer Howard (David) and Jaime Baumhart (Peter); nephew, Justin Ziegler; and her spoiled schnauzers, Suzy and Bowzer. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 9801 Southern Pines Blvd. Suite I, Charlotte, NC 28273.
