Linda Eaddy Gramling

(June 1, 1942 – January 15, 2025)

Linda Eaddy Gramling, 82, passed away on January 15, 2025, due to complications from surgery. Known as Linda by most people, her nephews shortened her name to Lin in their early years. Later, her grandnieces and grandnephews affectionately referred to her as Aunt Linny or Linny, which she enthusiastically embraced.

Born June 1, 1942, in Columbia, SC, Linda was the daughter of the late D. J. and Frances Joye Eaddy. She was married for 39 years to the late Clarence Lee “C. L.” Gramling, III, of Orangeburg where the couple made their family home. Linda is survived by her loving, supportive sister Betty Eaddy Keim (Thomas H. Keim, Sr., deceased) with whom she shared a home and an active, entertaining, and joy-filled life in Spartanburg over the last twelve years; nephews Thomas Howard Keim, Jr., (Missey), Stephen Clay Keim (Rebecca), James Scott Keim (Nancy), grandniece Ellis Keim Sisto (Matt), grandnephew Thomas H. Keim, III, (Maggie), grandniece Sarah Keim Stallard (Bryan), grandnephew Stephen Clay Keim, Jr., grandnephew James Scott “Jake” Keim, Jr., grandnephew Bryce Alexander Keim, and great-grand niece Catherine Nason Sisto. She is also survived by godson Dalton Taylor and many friends whom she loved dearly.

In 2012, Linda moved to Spartanburg and shared a home with her sister Betty and lived an active, joy-filled life. A “kind, sweet, and patient soul,” she cherished her active involvement with her nephews and their families throughout her life, all of whom she showered with love, gentleness, and kindness.

Linda was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. With her move to Spartanburg, she became a regular participant in First Baptist Church of Spartanburg’s television ministry and an eager student in Spartanburg’s Bible Study Fellowship. Linda was a prayer warrior for her family and friends and loved listening to and singing along with old gospel hymns.

During their marriage, C. L. and Linda enjoyed vacationing at the beach. They enjoyed spending time with each other, listening to country music, and dining out. They especially enjoyed visiting Charleston, SC and Destin, FL. Linda enjoyed supporting C. L. in his many Destin deep sea fishing adventures.

An extremely diligent employee for Southern Bell and Bell South, Linda’s professional career was that of a true pioneer. Her co-workers respected and admired her. She held significant budgetary control positions, including serving as the head of Bell South’s expense budget for North Carolina and South Carolina. While she enjoyed her work, Linda always made time for family and loved introducing her young nephews around her office. “I want you to meet my boys,” she would tell her colleagues. She retired early to care for her parents, to spend more time with family, and to continue her education, enrolling in Southern Wesleyan University where she completed her college degree. She rightfully beamed as she walked across the stage to receive her diploma as her family watched with pride and excitement.

When she moved to Spartanburg, Linny was surrounded by her nephews, their spouses, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Linny loved living with Betty and managing their busy schedules together. Linny was very tech savvy, so her extensive calendar and alerts always kept the two of them well ahead of schedule for ballgames, family functions, and doctors’ visits.

She enjoyed big family gatherings on Sundays for great food and fellowship. Linny also enjoyed eating out and take-out, Diet Coke, movie popcorn, and black cherry ice cream. In Spartanburg, Linny became an avid sports fan, regularly traveling to sporting venues with Betty to watch her grandnieces and grandnephews play various sports. Linny also enjoyed participating in the family’s fantasy football league. She would spend hours researching players and managing her team. The family knew not to draft players that Linny had targeted for her team. Linny also became an avid PGA golf fan and would scour the internet looking for opportunities to watch the weekly golf tournament earlier than the regular network feed.

Linny was “the kindest, gentlest, most loving soul on the face of the earth.” She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.
