Lillie May Jones "Granny" Williams, 95, of Gaffney, SC, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at Mary Black Gaffney. Born September 21, 1920, in Brevard, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hamp Hamby and Daisy May Jones Hamby and widow of Astor Williams. Known as "Granny" to everyone, she was the sternest and kindest woman, the best cook, and she canned everything. She retired from various textile mills after many, many years of service. Granny was baptized a Baptist, she was a very godly woman who studied the Bible, had a warm and welcoming hand for everyone, and will be missed by all. Surviving are her daughter, Gail Calvert of Spartanburg, SC; son, Jimmy Henry of Fairmont, SC; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A special family "thanks" to great-granddaughter, Anna Meldzuk, with whom she lived in recent years. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. A Celebration of Life graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2015, in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369, by the Rev. Monty King. Five grandsons and one great-grandson will serve as pallbearers.
