Lila High Pettit

Lila High Pettit, 95, formerly of the Hilltop Community in Spartanburg, passed away Friday evening, March 15, 2024, at Lakewood Senior Living. Born on October 3, 1928, in Spartanburg, Lila was the daughter of the late W.F. and Pearle Taylor High. She was married to the late Charles M. Pettit for 52 years.  

A current member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Lila was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church where she and her late husband were very involved in the Senior ministry. She graduated from W-L-T High School and was retired from Harrison Alloy. She had also worked for many years with Lyman Printing and Finishing Company and later, she and Charles ran the Sertoma Sheltered Workshop for Adults. 

Surviving is her daughter, Beth P. Dorsey (Scott) of Spartanburg; her son, Dr. Randy Pettit (Judy) of Indian Trail, NC; her grandsons, Nick Dorsey (Courtney) of Chesnee and Chip Pettit (Ashlee) of Mint Hill, NC; her seven great-grandchildren, Autumn, Taylor, Charlie, Ada, Gavin, Logan and Savannah; and 2 nieces, Dr. Ann Bowles and Mrs. Judy B. Hardy.  Along with her parents and husband, Lila was predeceased by her sister, Ruby H. Bowles. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Her funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Randy Pettit and Rev. Michael Boyter. The burial and committal service will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by the Rev. David Turner. 

The family will be at the home of Beth and Scott Dorsey. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
