Lester Shell Deaton, 91, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Lexington Medical Center. Born June 11, 1918, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Columbus and Nanny Campbell Deaton and the husband of the late Lucy Massey Deaton. He was retired from Draper Corporation after 42 years of service. He was a member of Glendale Masonic Lodge #271 and Ben Avon United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Roger Deaton and his wife Jean, and a granddaughter, Meredith Deaton Boehme and her husband John, all of Columbia; and a brother, Floyd Deaton of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Anderson; and four brothers, John, Ervin, Oliver, and DeFoix Deaton. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Larry Hyder. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
