Leroy Hollifield

Leroy Hollifield, 87, of Roebuck, SC, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 28, 1928, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Horace W. and Lillie Mae Hollaway Hollifield and husband of the late Elise Wofford Hollifield. A longtime foundry worker, and later an indoor parking lot operator at Carolina Cash Store in uptown Spartanburg, Mr. Hollifield also served in the SC National Guard. He was a true car enthusiast, loved NASCAR, and served most of his life as a deacon at Southport Church (formerly Arkwright Baptist Church). Surviving are his son, Kevin Hollifield (Lynn) of Roebuck, SC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Hollifield, Sara Nicole Hollifield, Tracie Lynn Dickson, Jeffrey Lee Brewington, and step-grandson, Andrew Metze; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Nora Mae Hollifield of Moore, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Brewington; and a great-granddaughter, Angie Elise. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by Pastor James Blackwood.
