Leon Blalock

Leon Otto Blalock, 89, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, December 27, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born October 26, 1932 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Plato and Ruth Suddeth Blalock, and the husband of the late Jean Henderson Blalock.

A US Army veteran, Mr. Blalock was retired from Southern Railroad after 43 years of service. A member of Cherokee Springs Baptist Church, he was also a member of Roebuck Masonic Lodge No. 357, Hejaz Shriners and a former treasurer for Spartanburg Shrine Club.

Survivors include his daughters, Susan Blalock Owens and Angel Fogle (William), his son, Joey Blalock, all of Spartanburg, SC; 13 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Blalock Jennings, and his siblings, Bill Blalock and Betty Blalock Brown.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church, 2699 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Belton Drake. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
