Lena Harper

Martha Lena Frey Harper, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at her home. Born November 15, 1931 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Jacob and Jessie Thomas Frey.

Lena was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Sunday School class.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Bernard Harper; her daughter, Tamara H. Cole (Lynn) of Spartanburg, SC; her son, Trent A. Harper (Angela) of Fripp Island, SC; grandchildren, Austin Harper (Tiffany), Tyler Cole (Morgan), and Jordan Cole; her brother, Lyn Frey of Monroe, NC; and her sister, Emma Mae Murray of Locust Grove, GA. Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, J.P. Frey, Nancy Ochiltree, Louise Lanford, John Frey, Dan Frey, Gena Sumner and Pauline Steadman.

Visitation will be at 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Rob Gouge. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 16 Hyland Road, Greenville, SC 29615.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Brian Bailey, Danial Sherbert, Bobbi Jo Davidson, Miranda Wannamaker, and staff members of Interim Hospice for all of their love and attention to Lena.
