Leland Smith

Leland E. Smith, 66, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, July 15, 2016, in the arms of his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Thomas Smith. Born September 27, 1949, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Edward Carlton Smith "Smitty" and Jennie Lee Fain Smith Silvey. In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Pam and David Arnold of Spartanburg, SC, Susan and Barry Skinner of Jonesville, SC and Missy and Roger Webb of Spartanburg, SC; the true joys of his life, his granddaughters, Samantha, Lauren, Elizabeth "Lizzy", Alyssa and Shelby. Also surviving are his sisters, Vickie Norris of Cowpens, SC and Kim Newton (Phil) of Spartanburg, SC; and step-sisters, Brenda Durham, Barbara Gossett and Debby Barrett. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step-sister, Sandra Phillips; and brother-in-law, Bob Norris. Mr. Smith was a production manager having retired after 30 years with Piedmont Packaging and a member of Roebuck Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Richard Winston. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
