Leland Rogers

April 8, 1923 — March 12, 2013

Leland Wilton Rogers, 89, lifelong resident of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 8, 1923, he was the son of the late George Wayman and Annie Bailey Rogers and the widower of Gwendlyn Smith Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Boiling Springs, SC. He was a Mason, Shriner, member of the American Legion, a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, and was retired from the Independent Life Insurance Company. Survivors include one brother, Harold Rogers and wife Christine of Danzel, SC; niece and caregiver, Judy Rogers Brown; nieces and nephews, Bonnie Clayton, Tammy Perko, John Rogers, Jim Rogers, Scott Rogers, Rog Rogers, Wayne Rogers, Ted Rogers, and Terry Rogers; and many other great-nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Walter Rogers, John Rogers, Clyde Rogers, and Jimmy Rogers; and one sister, Sadie Rogers Hagan. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Scott Linnerud. The family will receive friends at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4000 Parris Bridge Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. A very special thank you to the staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for the loving care they gave to Leland. The family is at their respective homes.
