Leland Bomar Iii

Horace Leland Bomar, III, 66, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Spartanburg Medical Center after a brief illness. Born June 9, 1948, Leland was the son of the late Horace Leland, Jr. and Martha Grier Bomar. A native of Spartanburg, Leland attended Spartanburg City Schools. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College and a member of The Kappa Alpha Order. He received his JD Degree from the University of South Carolina and was formerly a partner with Holcombe Bomar, P.A. He was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and was also a member and past president of The Spartanburg Kiwanis Club. Leland served on the board of SPACE and recently enjoyed delivering meals for Mobile Meals. He was a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg and was a member of the American Bar Association. Survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Halina "Holly" Burrell Bomar; his children, James Stirling Bomar (Jill) of Atlanta, GA, Martha Grier Bomar (Josh Linder) of Harrisonburg, VA, Ann Bomar Caudle (Lawrence) of Spartanburg, SC, John Stewart Bomar (Kaitlin) and Elizabeth Dorothy Lundeen Bomar, all of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by stepchildren, Halina Joanne Riddle of Greenville, SC, Melody Riddle Clifford (Jared) of Tampa, FL; and grandchildren, Martha Ann Elizabeth "Mae" Bomar, William George Bomar, Jacob Stirling Linder, and Jude David Linder. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother, James Grier Bomar (Rebecca) of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Betsy Bomar Littlejohn (Chris) of Greenville, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the home at 107 Briarwood Ct., Spartanburg, SC. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, by The Rev. Dr. Thomas Evans, The Rev. Joanne Hull, and Mr. Robert Bannan. Honorary Escort will be members of The Second Wednesday Supper Club.
