Lavinia Newbold Blackwood, 85, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Windsor House West. Born September 9, 1924, in Netherseal, England, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Ellen Newbold and the wife of the late Kedric Leon Blackwood. She was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church and the World War II Brides. Survivors include two sons, Francis Hyrick Blackwood and wife Brenda, and Kedrick Wayne Blackwood and wife Joyce, all of Spartanburg; two daughters, Angela Ford and husband Gordon of Taylors, and Brenda Joyce Harker and husband Buddy of Leesville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Alan Leonard. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Piedmont Hospice, 1865 East Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334.
