Laurin Goolsby

Laurin B. Goolsby, 89, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Magnolia Manor-Spartanburg. Born February 20, 1923, in Spartanburg, he was the husband of the late Phoebe Cato Goolsby and son of the late John Harmon and Mamie Bevel Goolsby. A veteran of the U. S. Marines, Mr. Goolsby was retired from Southern Railroad and was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg Church. Surviving are his daughters, June G. Wykel (Don) and Janice G. Cromley; grandchildren, Hope, Steven, and Janice; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Laurin, and Nicholas. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by a grandson, Donnie Wykel. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012, at First Baptist North Spartanburg Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael S. Hamlet. Entombment with military rites by the U. S. Marine Corps Honor Team will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
