Laurence N. Sebukayire

Ms. Laurence Nyirahabimana Sebukayire, 69 of Spartanburg, South Carolina peacefully passed away at her home,Thursday February 29, 2024. She was born in Kigali Rwanda, Africa on October 30,1954 to the late Mr. Fidele Kayijka and Ms.Therese Nibakwe.  

Laurence was a strong woman of faith who dedicated 30 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, her love for education and nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. One of Laurence's proudest accomplishments was her enduring fifty-year marriage to her beloved husband Gasore Canisius. Their bond stood as a testament to love and commitment for all who knew them. 

Laurence is survived by her children Two sons;Gasore Nkwaya (Chantale Mukamazera), Christian Rwamukwaya (Uwimama Sifa Mwamvita), a daughter; Rosine Nkwaya, a brother Augustin Kayijuka, a sister Odette Kayijuka, fourteen grandkids and two great-grandkids. Laurence was predeceased by her late husband Gasore Canisius, her Father Fidele Kayijuka, Mother Therese Nibakwe, and two brothers: Euphreum Kayijuka and George Kayijuka.

Laurence will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, passion for reading the Bible, love for listening to music, and dedication to prayer. Her kindness and wisdom have left an indelible mark on all those whose lives she touched. 

Visitation will be held Sunday March 03,2024 from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM at The Bridge at Green Street Baptist Church (Neema Kiswahili Baptist Congregation) located at 317 Green Street Spartanburg, South Carolina 29303, following a 2:00 funeral service at the same location. The burial will take place at 3:15 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located at 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307.
