Laura Catto

Laura Hendley Catto, 80, of Moore, SC died Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home. Born January 7, 1941 in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Orr and Doris Smith Hendley, and the wife of the late Phillip D. Catto. Lolli, as she was called by her sisters and brothers as well as other family members, was the youngest of five children in the family. Her two brothers and two sisters predeceased her.

Laura was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Adult Sunday School class and believed in a life of service to others and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her son, William S. Cannon of Spartanburg, SC, her grandson, Nicholas J. Cannon of Spartanburg, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Malinda J. Cannon.

A 1959 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Laura was a realtor for 37 years. She started her career with Allied Builders as the office manager. Being a realtor was the best job Laura had because she loved helping people find the right home.

She was a member of the Spartanburg Chapter of Parents Without Partners for years and served in many leadership roles. Laura enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, as well as shag dancing and traveling with Phil. She served on the board and other committees of the R&B Shag Club of Spartanburg.

A visitation will be 3:00 – 3:45 PM Monday, September 20, 2021 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 797 Old Georgia Road, Moore, SC 29369. A Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM at the church, conducted by The Rev. James L. Oliver.
