Larry M. Lee, 75, of 221 Blueridge Street, Inman, went to his heavenly Father on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a long bout with cancer. Born January 19, 1936, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of Lt. (Ret.) Haman L. and Lucille Kimberlain Lee who preceded him in death. Larry was an Information Technology professional for forty-six years; he worked with the Federal government and Colonial Stores Eastern Division headquarters in Norfolk, VA, and two years on the Norfolk, Virginia City Police Department as a precinct patrolman before moving to South Carolina. He spent eight years with Draper Corporation in Spartanburg, three years as Data Processing Manager with Arkwright Mills, and six years with Daniel International in Greenville as Data Center Manager. He retired, after 20 years, with Spartan Mills, as Systems Development Manager. Since retirement, he worked for six years in retail sales, and the last five years as a security guard, patrol captain, general manager, and Spartanburg Branch Office Manager. Mr. Lee spent eight years in the U. S. Army Reserve as Sergeant First Class and in the SC State Guard for three years as 1st Lieutenant and Company Commander of Company A, 5th Battalion, 2nd Brigade, in Gaffney, SC. He loved music and sang in choirs most of his life, loved to read novels, bowl, and oil paint, and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg. Surviving are his beloved children, who were the love of his life, Dawn Lee Allen (David) of Greer, and Noel Burke Lee (Laura) of Woodruff; three adorable grandchildren, Hunter Lee and Griffin Lee, both of Boiling Springs, and Luci Allen of Greer. He was also preceded in death by his son, Rudy Shawn Lee, and his brother, Donn L. Lee. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Monday, May 30, 2011 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Matthew Eddleman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Services, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
