Lanell Lowry

LaNell Rowell Lowry, 87, a resident of White Oak Estates and widow of Phillip Sam Lowry Jr., died Thursday, October 6, 2016. Born March 14, 1929, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Gary Carlisle and Rona Parker Rowell. Mrs. Lowry was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was retired from Bellsouth. Surviving are two children, David Carlton (Jo) Richey of Wellford, SC and Nelda Druanne Richey of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren, Anna (David) Gomes and Alex (Brooks) Woodlief; a brother, Gary Carlisle (Eunice) Rowell Jr. of Greenwood, SC; and three sisters, Marsha Willingham, Glenda McKeitham, and Pamela R. Prince, all of Spartanburg, SC. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. David E. Nichols. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
