Lane Burris

Lane Carson Burris, 83, of Spartanburg died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 16, 1927, in Albemarle, NC, he was the son of the late Bertha and Daniel Monroe Burris. Mr. Burris was the owner of Burris, Inc. and a Distributor for Merrow Machine Co. He held several patents in industrial sewing machine equipment. He was a member of Spartanburg Rotary Club, First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, Spartan Masonic Lodge #70, and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Gowan Burris; two sisters, Exie Bolick of Conover, NC and Alma White Coward of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Ronda Burris of Chapin, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Ruby Burris and a brother, Dan Burris. Cryptside services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 21, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, conducted by the Rev. Ansley Page.
